Mindfulness: How School Leaders Can Reduce Stress and Thrive on the job

We hope you will be able to join us for a special evening and full-day workshop on mindfulness, mindful leadership and mindful self-compassion designed to allow you to learn the skills and enter into some stillness. This workshop will offer 9 SCECH credits for participants. It will be highly engaging and interactive, teaching methods of mindful practice that are related to leadership effectiveness.

Have you wanted to:

  • Reduce some stress
  • Learn about resilience and self-care
  • Have an opportunity to enter into some quiet for you to catch your breath and plan for your own personal goals
  • Find out why mindfulness is being taught and practiced in major corporations, medical and law schools, hospitals, and the military, and how it is now considered mainstream in this country
  • Interact with other school leaders who want to thrive, and not just cope on the job?

If so, this workshop is for you. It will feature a variety of activities and learning that will inform engage, and offer you a new definition of well-being.

About the Facilitator, Dr. Caryn Wells:

Caryn Wells, author of Mindfulness: How School Leaders can Reduce Stress and Thrive on the Job, will facilitate this training. As part of the retreat/workshop, you will receive a copy of her book, which was selected by Oakland University as one of two books from 132 books written over a two-year period at OU, for special recognition and public presentation. Caryn teaches mindfulness to educational leadership programs for graduate students at OU, and offers introductions to doctoral and medical students. She presents full-day workshops for educators, and workshops for professional organizations. She is a former teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and principal.
