Michigan Student Mental Health Screening Toolkit Webinar

In response to the mental health recommendations developed by the Mental Health Subcommittee of the Governor’s Return to School Roadmap Task Force, a Student Mental Health Screening Toolkit was developed. This resource is being offered to schools around the state as they continue to finalize their return to school plans for the fall. Please join us on Monday, August 24th from 2-3 for a presentation by the Toolkit lead author, Elizabeth Koschmann, PhD from the University of Michigan. She will discuss the components included in this Toolkit and how it can be used in these current circumstances.
Lauren Kazee, LMSW
Lauren Kazee, LMSW, is a licensed master’s level social worker. As a School Mental Health Consultant for both the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and the Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). She led the team at MDE in the creation of Michigan’s SEL Competencies and companion documents, school mental health policies, trainings, and the development of support resources. Currently, she provides technical assistance to Intermediate School Districts regarding their 31n funds and also works part-time for the University of Michigan, in their TRAILS program.
Elizabeth Koschmann, PhD
Elizabeth Koschmann, PhD, is a faculty member in the U-M Department of Psychiatry and the Director of TRAILS (Transforming Research into Action to Improve the Lives of Students) – a program that works to disseminate evidence-based mental health practices to K-12 schools. Elizabeth’s research is focused on identification of ways to improve community access to effective mental health care, particularly by training school professionals in best practices. Elizabeth’s area of clinical expertise is in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD in children and adolescents using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness practices.
