Making the Teacher Evaluation Process “Worth-It” through Data-focused Observations and Conversations

(Based on Framework for Teaching Clusters)

Essential Professional Learning Question: How do I use the Framework for Teaching AND student-learning data to enhance the teacher observation/conversation process to support professional growth?

Supporting teachers in using teaching and student-learning data to grow professional practice is the most challenging AND important job that an instructional leader has. Learn how to “cluster” the Framework for Teaching Components to focus on teaching clarity in planning conversations, growth-mind sets and student engagement during the observation and learning data in the reflection conversations. Build your evaluation toolkit so that it includes skills and strategies for making the evaluation process “worth-it” for all stakeholders…especially our students.

Learning Purpose for Data-Focused Observation and Conversations:

  • Learn how to embed student data into the Plan-Teach-Reflect-Apply teaching evaluation process using Framework for Teaching cluster priorities
  • Experience step-by-step protocols for conducting a focused observation, analyzing teaching and student learning data, and engaging in data-rich planning and reflection conversations
  • Gain tips and tools to personalize your own teacher evaluation process to ensure that it is “worth-it” for maximizing teaching growth and student-learning success

Course Length: 1 day
