Critical Conversations: How to Use the Danielson Framework to Talk about What Is Important in Teaching

Course Description: Addressing inappropriate professional practiceGiving targeted feedback and support to a teacher using variety of data sources…Focusing on continuous improvement no matter how veteran the staff member… Differentiating summative evaluation conversations to increase professional growth…All of these are critical conversations. What are additional critical conversations that you need to have, but don’t  – or don’t do well enough? This session provides participants with the knowledge and skill to have important conversations with less stress and more success.

  • Discover what makes having critical conversations so difficult to conduct and how to improve the chances of having them turn out productively
  • Focus on how to personalize “what we know” and “what we need to learn” through use of the Framework for Teaching Clusters
  • Learn how to accelerate professional learning through the 3 BIG Skills of Critical Conversations: Listening, Thinking, and Responding
  • Gain a variety of templates and tools to support important conversations no matter what the area of focus or need for improvement

Trainer: Dr. Pamela Rosa

Dr. Pamela Rosa, as the president of Rosa Educational Consulting, provides a wide range of intellectually engaging AND high-energy teaching, mentoring-coaching, and leadership learning opportunities. Pam has served as an award-winning principal, district curriculum and professional development coordinator, state school improvement consultant, director of early learning center, and a teacher/instructional coach at all grade levels. Pam’s current action research efforts focus on validation of The Framework for Teaching in early learning grades (PreK-3rd Grade) and development of the online, early learning professional resource, PK3TeachLeadGrow.org, in partnership with Dr. Lisa Hood from The Center for the Study of Educational Policy at Illinois State University.
