A ” WORTH-IT” Teacher Evaluation
A Four-Part Module for New or Frustrated Evaluators on How to Make the Teacher Evaluation Process Worth-It!
This four-part, step-by-step, virtual series will provide new and frustrated evaluators with the non-negotiables of WHAT to focus on for announced and unannounced evaluation observations and conversations. Evaluators will also load up their evaluation toolkit with tips-n-tools on HOW to make each aspect of the evaluation process worth-it for BOTH the educator and the evaluator. Before each session, participants will be provided with pre-learning resources to maximize the virtual learning process. Between each session, participants will “try out” the evaluation content/skill/tool(s) so that by end of the four-part module, each participant with have developed their own “worth-it” teacher evaluation approach for IMMEDIATE learning impact for educators and students!
Essential Leadership Question: How can I use the teacher evaluation process as BOTH a shared focus on teaching’s impact on student learning and an opportunity for professional growth?
- Session 1’s Focus on the Six High Impact Evaluation Areas of Teaching and Learning: This session supports evaluators having foundational “look-n-listen for’s” in teaching and student learning. Participants will determine priorities procedural and instructional non-negotiables for both announced and unannounced observations. Take away specific guiding questions, tools, and structures for guiding teachers how to “know and grow” their own learning process for research-based best practice!
- Session 2’s Focus on the Big 5 Priorities of EVERY Planning Conversation: Find out how to use the BIG 5 Planning Priorities that should be included in every evaluation planning conversation. Experience a step-by-step protocol with guiding questions and template to support this critical learning conversation. Walk-away with a strategy for making the planning conversation be both meaningful and manageable in 20 minutes or less!
- Session 3’s Focus on Low Bias, Student-Focus Observation Approaches: Practice collecting, sorting, aligning and analyzing observation data against master-scored videos. Develop approaches for focusing on student-learning vs teaching in observation process. Take away different ways with aligned observation tools to capture student-learning impact.
- Session 4’s Focus on Collaborative Reflection Conversations that GROW Professional Learning: Maximize the student-learning observation data through collaborative reflection conversations that empower the teacher and the evaluator. Gain a powerful conceptual thinking protocol that builds on teaching assets, goes deeper into learning possibilities and ends by growing a student-focused TASCC!
Session Length: Four, 90-minute online session with 45-minute pre-learning reading/45-minute post-learning application with 12 hour total (12 SCECHs)

Dr. Pamela Rosa, as the president of Rosa Educational Consulting, provides a wide range of intellectually engaging AND high-energy teaching, mentoring-coaching, and leadership learning opportunities. Pam has served as an award-winning principal, district curriculum and professional development coordinator, state school improvement consultant, director of early learning center, and a teacher/instructional coach at all grade levels. Pam’s current action research efforts focus on validation of The Framework for Teaching in early learning grades (PreK-3rd Grade) and development of the online, early learning professional resource, PK3TeachLeadGrow.org, in partnership with Dr. Lisa Hood from The Center for the Study of Educational Policy at Illinois State University.
